A funny thing happens when people enter the building and see the walls of Coliseum Hall. Mouths open, eyes widen and the reading begins as a river of visitors start on one end of the timeline depicted and eventually circles around and finishes near the Rodeo Shop. Often noted as a favorite by our visitors, the archival photographs and drawings accompany short snippets of history telling viewers this building has been a center of attention for over 100 years.
Commissioned in 1986 as part of the Cowtown Coliseum’s renovation and restoration, the 80+ feet of mural are compelling and accessible for patrons of all ages. From school bus tours to western heritage buffs, the stories of the many speakers, performers, leaders and heroes who have graced the arena stage share not only the chronology of events, but the special circumstances surrounding the occasions.
Every tour works at a different pace as interest vary as does the time allotted. We suggest allowing enough time for your family or group to pour over these images and stories. These are the stories of the Cowtown Coliseum.
